One afternoon I rented a bicycle to explore the Dim valley. I cycled through residential areas up the ridge west of the valley until a steep road led me down to Dimçayı road. I followed the road upstream past a restaurant with a huge aquarium and taverns hanging above the river, which is certainly a nice place to escape the heat and have a drink. After a few kilometres the front of the huge dam appeared. I took the branch of the road that climbs to the northern bank of the lake that was in the process of filling up the valley behind the dam. The view felt more like being on an industrial site than in a pittoresque valley that must once have been. On the way down I continued in the valley. Suddenly it started raining. I stopped under the future motorway bridge to a wait a few minutes until it eased. Then I continued down to the sea and fought my way back through roads blocked by street markets.
